6 Reasons why I love being a Website Designer
From mapping out strategic back-end wireframes to listening to unique success stories, read on to learn Part 1 of why I love being a web designer.
1. I can work in any industry
Being a freelancer Web designer designer is one of the best jobs in the world because I can be part of so many businesses’ stories. It’s the best of both worlds; I get to work in my own business while collaborating and feeling ’employed’ by so many small businesses in a variety of industries. How cool!
2. I LOVE Design.
In High School, I study Art, media and completed a Graphic Design Cert. at Tafe. However, after school, I found that I was attracted to careers that I thought would allow me to travel. I still found ways to release my creativity but found after 3+ years, I felt like I still had not found what I really wanted to do. I still had the skills and a passion for design. Once I started, I realised how much I still loved it! Digital design is my bread and butter and it wasn’t long until I bagged a series of Graphic and Web Design jobs.
3. But it’s not just about design.
Just as much as websites need design, a lot of science and strategy goes on behind the scenes. I love the back end processes that go into creating a website that will help bring in leads and sales for your business.
4. Small businesses are so inspiring
Speak to any small business owner and they will have a story about how they started! I love listening to small businesses and finding out more about their passions. Having the opportunity to work with them means that I can help them solve their problems and streamline different processes in their business which can help them grow.
5. I get the opportunity to help my community
My home base is the small inland Australian city of Toowoomba. It’s about 2 hours from Brisbane and 2.5 from the Gold Coast. It’s a great regional community of small local businesses and creative people. Basing myself from my big country town means that I can help small businesses who might not get the attention that bigger cities get!
Studies show that regional small businesses are less likely to have a website than those in larger cities. While I love making websites, it’s even better when I can feel like I’m making a difference and helping connect regional small businesses to their people!
6. I can work anywhere in the world!
Lastly, the ultimate perk of working as a website designer is that I can work from anywhere in the world from the comfort of my laptop. As we speak, I am currently working from the UK! While spending some time with my English boyfriend.
While there are so many more reasons – and I may have to write another post later on, in the spirit of keeping things short, there are my 5 reasons why I love being a web designer!
